How difficult is the PADI scuba diving certificate?

If you are a newbie in the scuba diving world, you might have heard a lot about the PADI certificate, PADI authorised trainer, padi dive-master and so on. from your instructor, diving professional buddies, and at the beginning of your diving training. Which is not rocket science, like we always said anyone can dive! So in order to not beat around the bush, we will cover all the information you need, and let you judge if it is difficult or not!

 

To start, we will identify PADi and its certificate, why you will need it, and how it would be beneficial for you in this article. Don’t forget to bring your passion and relaxed mind, whenever we talk about diving.

 

What is a PADI certificate and courses?

 

Firstly, padi is an abbreviation for a group of words that refer to (International Federation of Professional Diving Instructors). Padi got its fame because it is the first international diving federation, that opens the way for every student to continue learning in the field of diving up to the level of a diving instructor, regardless of his nationality or educational level. One of the reasons for Padi’s success is the ease and development of its educational programs. Further, Padi educational programs are distinguished by the accuracy of the safety procedures followed, whether during training or in various diving activities.

 

*The typical progression for a recreational diver is to make up what the vast majority of all divers do, starting with  an Open Water course, then Advanced Open Water, to Rescue Diver.

Open water course (beginner diver):

 

  • It consists of five theoretical lectures, five swimming pool exercises and four dives in the open sea.
  • In the theoretical lectures, you will study (Padi’s Guide for the Beginner Diver). This online book is considered as the best book on diving training.
  • Make sure that you can solve all the exercises in the book (Padi’s Guide for the Beginner Diver) after reading it.
  • Also, there are exercises in the confined water (the pool) in this book.
  • Make sure that all the exercises have been mastered to a high degree, and read the pool exercises well before beginning the training.
  • By the end of finishing the exercises in the book and training on equipment in the pool, you will move to the sea to make at least 4 divers over a period of two days.
  • Learn during the training how to choose good equipment and what are the methods of testing it. If you follow these procedures, you will be one of the best divers in the region.
  • A quick overview of all the skills that a diving instructor must perform, according to PADI regulations and procedures.
  • These skills are only to give a simplified idea of the diversity of skills that the trainee undergoes in the diving course.
  • The objective of the presentation of these skills is to give the reader confidence in the ease of learning and controlling diving equipment by qualified instructors. These exercises are not entitled to any unqualified person. By training (certified trainer) to transfer or apply it because it may be a real danger from the practical and legal point of view.

 

Advanced Diver Course

 

  • This course is the in more advanced level of diving in the PADI system for diving program grades.
  • It consists of five dives in the open sea, and each of these dives includes activities different from the other. There are 2 different types of dives that are obligatory for the trainee to take, and the other three dives are optional.
  • Compulsory dives are as follows: (Deep diving – Navigation using the compass).
  •  The  rest of the optional dives are a free choice according to the trainee. Three of the following dives:( altitude, boat, digital underwater imaging, drift, dry suit, fish ID, night, buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater naturalist and wreck diving)
  • When you select the dives type, take into account choosing the most appropriate and beneficial dives. sea, and gain a distinctive practical experience by tasting five different specialised dives.

 

Rescue Diver Course

 

  • This course is considered the third level of PADI divers’ levels or degrees.
  • The main requirements for registration in this course are: the diver obtains an advanced diver degree, possession of full diving equipment, in addition to registering a certain number of dives he has previously undertaken. The contents of the Rescue Diver course are: Five theoretical classes, two swimming pool classes, and several dives in the open sea to carry out the necessary exercises.
  • The theoretical lectures include five different topics that are explained to the trainee in a theoretical form followed by a final exam.
  • The success rate must be more than 80%

 Padi Divemaster

 

The padi dive-master is on another level from the other courses.  Where you will learn leadership skills and how to manage diving activities in the Divemaster course.  You will also gain fine academic knowledge and the ability to plan and oversee a variety of scuba diving programmes through knowledge development sessions, water skills exercises, workshops, and hands-on practical assessments.

Who can get a Padi certificate?

 

We always love to say anyone can dive, but for a Padi certificate at all of the different levels there is some basic information you need to know!

 

  •   Your kids could start bubbling under the water if they are 8 years old and older.The age requirement is ten years old (in most areas).
  • If younger than 15-year-old student divers receive the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification.
  •  There are restrictions that apply to the Junior Open Water certification.The maximum depth for divers 10 to 11 years old is 12 metres (40 feet) and they must dive with a professional diver or with a certified  guardian.
  • Divers aged 12 to 14 must dive with an adult who is certified, and their maximum depth is 18 metres (60 ft).

 

  • You can learn to dive if you have the basic swimming skills or be able to equalise standing in water, and in good health with ( no serious condition, or life threatening disease), also don’t have any breathing conditions that would prevent you from diving.

 

  • Also there are age requirements for advanced and rescue divers, who are a little bit higher from open water. These courses are nevertheless made accessible to just about everyone who wants to finish them. You have to be at least 18 years old.
