What Is PADI Adventure Diver?

Adventure Diver is considered part of the Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) course. This means that the gear you purchase and dives you complete apply to your Advanced Open Water certification.

In the Adventure Diver course, you choose three specialty dives to try, including:

• Dry Suit Diving.
• Peak Performance Buoyancy.

• Rebreather Diving.

Each one of these dives is called an Adventure Dive, and every type of Adventure Dive counts toward the same type of PADI Specialty course as well as the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Adventure Dives can be done in a day, over a weekend, or across different scuba trips.

Upgrading from PADI Adventure Diver to Advanced Open Water Diver

The Adventure Diver certification is regarded as a stepping stone from the Open Water Diver certification to the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. The Adventure Diver certification card you will get shoes that you’re not a brand-new diver, but it doesn’t give access to deep or advanced dives.

If you are an adventure Divers and want to upgrade to Advanced Open Water Diver, you can do that at any time. All you need to do is to complete the deep and navigation Adventure Dives besides with the deep and navigation parts of the Advanced Open Water eLearning.

If you have completed one or both of these Adventure Dives during the Adventure Diver course, there are two additional Adventure Dives required to complete the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. It is also important to mention that the Advanced Open Water Diver course has no written exam.

PADI Adventure Diver vs. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver: A Quick Breakdown

Similarities:

• Study using the eLearning part of the Advanced Open Water Diver.
• Gain credit for PADI Specialty Diver courses.

Differences:

• Advanced: Consists of five dives, that include one deep dive in addition to one navigation dive
• Adventure: Consists of three dives, not required to do a deep or navigation dive.
