Divers between 15 and 17 years old can join the PADI Junior Divemaster program. Divemaster is considered your first step on the ladder of professional diving. While Junior Divemasters can’t be regarded as PADI Members, they develop leadership and scuba skills through this rigorous program.

After a Junior Divemaster becomes 18 years old, he or she can finish the rest of the course in order to become a PADI Divemaster.

The PADI Basic Mermaidâ„¢ course is a combination between essential knowledge and skill development in confined water settings. It offers a thorough and engaging introduction to mermaid diving. It also covers the history and culture of mermaid diving, safety considerations, and basic equipment and water skills.

This course suits children who are six years and up who are able to:

  • Swim comfortably at least 25m/80ft without any assistance,
  • Foat at the surface for 3 minutes.
  • Are in good physical health.

Your child doesn’t have to be experienced in snorkeling, skin diving, or freediving.

The course consists of two phases. The first phase is independent study using PADI Basic Mermaid eLearning materials. The instructors may hold classes if the materials aren’t available in your language.

The second phase includes a confined water session that mimics pool-like conditions. Kids learn and practice basic mermaid diving skills, in addition to handling techniques, problem prevention,a nd how to conduct mermaid dives.
