How Low Can You Go in Cavern Diving?
The depth in cavern diving varies and scuba divers can go till hundreds of feet as their equipment and training allow. Here are some of the deepest cavern destination in the world:
Alghero, Sardinia
If you haven’t got any cave training yet and are looking for an easier cavern to start with. Sardinia will be your perfect destination. There are a series of huge saltwater caves that are found off the shore of Alghero in Sardinia.
When you go there, don’t ever miss Neptune’s Grotto, which is the most famous caves there. You will be amazed when you see the formations within this hidden wonder in the exceptionally clear water.
Within these caverns, you can enjoy the Mediterranean red coral cuddled up to magnificent stalagmites and stalactites.
You will also find the conger eels and lobsters double the size of their neighbors in the reef dwelling. The large underwater caverns provide shelter and many rooms to grow. That makes it the ideal place to make their home.
Visit Sardinia from April to October, as if you come here in winter, the conditions will be too rough for comfortable travel.

The Blue Lake City, South Australia
This cave could be an application of the saying (Appearance can be deceiving). This cave is found in the farmland of rural Australia and is called “The Shaft”. Its opening size is equal to the size of a table in the middle of a pasture.
This small entry leads to a huge cavern which is only illuminated by the pinprick of light that you have descended through. It is surrounded by a tight formation of rocks and will not be suitable for you if you have claustrophobia.
You will need to be specially trained before descending into this cave, as any stirred up sediment could cause a problem in visibility for several days. You can come at any time of the year, as the water temperature remains 15 degrees Celsius.
Emergence du Ressel, France
You can bring your diver propulsion vehicle to this wide cave in France. You will zoom through the cave which has varying depths from 9 meters to 18 meters. The tunnel of the cave forms a loop, although not many have completed a circle of 2.5 miles.
This area of Europe contains many different caves, so there you have the opportunity to spend some time in several cave systems in the region. Summer is the best time to visit France because the water is warm, the air temperature is good and there is less rainfall.
Orda Cave, Russia

If we can describe this cave with one word, the word will be epic. The cave is located 1500 km from Moscow and is characterized by its cold water and massive rooms.
This cave is also considered as the largest Crystal cave in the world. Its walls are made of gypsum which is a white nearly translucent mineral that creates delicate formations.
These creations are fleeting and the chalky crystals dissolve and reform continuously. That makes every diving experience very unique.
Keep in consideration that the water is 5 degrees celsius all the year regardless of the temperature of the air. This means that you can visit the cave any time but consider that when the snow melts in March the visibility is muddled.
Tulum, Cenotes, Mexico
The Cenotes in Mexico are one of the most breathtaking geological formations worldwide. Here, you will see the land and the sky meets the water creating a unique landscape in which they are confusing in a patchwork of light and dark.
You can find a set of underwater cave systems that extend over thousands of miles and every year more is discovered.
There are some areas that are completely untouched by humans and others that have been pristine for very long years. You can visit Mexico anytime of the year because the weather is always so beautiful. It is the right place to get a cavern diver certification ,too.
